Biofabrication: a powerful approach for the development of new solutions against pandemics and for a functional personalized medicine

Dear friends and colleagues,

The pandemic situation that has hit the world in the last two years has made us understand the importance of scientific research applied to medicine and how new technologies, materials and systems are necessary to quickly find new therapies and develop patient specific solutions.

For this reason, the Biofabrication Conference 2022 wants even more to mark the importance of Biofabrication and Bioprinting in this area, opening our boundaries and integrating our expertises with all the scientific realities, for a truly impactful research and a new leap in quality.

In this sense, the conference will be open to our consolidated community but also to all those who want to join the ISBF, by bringing new approaches and competences to this field, which is already multidisciplinary in nature.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we warmly welcome you to the conference of the International Society for Biofabrication 2022. The conference is held each year in a different location around the world, and since the first meeting in 2006 in Manchester, where only a few people attended, it has grown into an annual event. Last year, more than 500 participants from over 20 countries attended the digital-edition Biofabrication 2021 organized by the University of Wollongong. This year, we are thrilled to meet you live in Tuscany, Italy from 25th to 28th of September 2022!

The Biofabrication 2022 conference aims at bringing together leading academic scientists and researchers to exchange and share their know-how and results on all aspects of Biofabrication, as is reflected in the thematic sessions, to which you can submit abstracts for oral and poster presentation, as well as 5 plenaries.

New networking opportunities will be offered throughout the whole event, including a welcome cocktail, young researchers evening and social gala dinner. You will also be able to meet our sponsors during the event.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we look forward to see you in Tuscany!

Venue

Montecatini Terme is an Italian town of c. 20,000 inhabitants in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany, central Italy. It is the most important center in Valdinievole. The town is located at the eastern end of Piana di Lucca and has a strong vocation for tourism, as well as industrial and commercial industries related to the spa, which in turn has increased the interest for hotel accommodation in the region.

The city owes its popularity to the thermal waters, rich in precious mineral elements that still confirm its fame in the international spa. The thermal waters of Montecatini were probably already known and exploited at the time of the Romans, since in 1788 during recovery works some Roman votive statues were found.

In 2021, the town became part of the transnational UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name “Great Spa Towns of Europe”, because of its famous mineral springs and its architecture exemplifying the popularity of spa resorts in Europe during the 18th through 20th centuries.

About ISBF

The International Society for Biofabrication (ISBF) was founded in 2010 and is a scientific and professional society, which promotes advances in biofabrication research, development, education, training, and medical and clinical applications.

The ISBF represents the international biofabrication community and operates as a non-profit organisation. The ISBF’s core purpose is to foster scientific and technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. ISBF promotes the interaction and convergence of the different disciplines in the field of biofabrication, as well as between basic research and applied practice. Further, the Society aims at promoting cooperation with other scientific organisations and communities.
